What Is Your Success?
The music business is not all that different from other businesses. Some succeed while some fail. Some make money and others lose it. Your drive is what will set you apart from others. There are so many people doing exactly what you are doing! Scary isn’t it. Think about things you are doing right now that others are not doing. Your number one objective is to succeed at your craft. But what is your definition of success? It may be different from the person sitting next to you.
Define your success.
I decided long ago that I would devote myself to promoting and empowering women in music. It has been my passion for over 11 years now. I was surrounded by music at an early age and even started playing guitar at age 11. From that time on I knew that music would always be a big part of my life. Who knew all these years later it would be as a music business consultant, coach, motivator and author as well as the founder of GoGirlsMusic.com, the oldest and largest online community of indie women musicians!
What have you devoted yourself to? Write it down.
Where would you like to go with it?
Where has it taken you?
Think about these things!
Define success in your terms.
Success to me is the joy in helping others. I get great satisfaction when others tell me that I personally or GoGirlsMusic.com has helped them and their music career. For some, it’s been the community and having a place where they feel welcome as an indie artist. For others it’s the opportunities to showcase at one of our events. I even have people telling me they enjoy the emails I send out that are filled with information, resources and inspiration.
This is my success!
What is yours?

I think knowing your own definition of success is key. It can mean something different to each individual. Unless you know what success means to you, how do you know if and when you have achieved success?
